Use this task to add a new billing code or to change an existing billing code.
Follow this path: Administration tab > Care Management banner > Billing Codes sub-banner.
The Billing Codes list page is displayed. View field definitions.
Click on the New Item icon in the tool bar.
The Billing Code Details page is displayed. View field definitions.
Complete the General tab.
Click the Save button in the tool bar.
Click on the Billing Code Modifiers tab to make it active.
The Billing Code Modifiers tab is displayed. View field definitions.
Complete the Billing Code Modifiers tab. When you complete the fields in the Modifiers section, be sure to click Insert to add the information to the system and update the list in the Rate section.
Note the system creates a record line for the first billing code with no modifiers added.
Click the Save button in the tool bar.
Determine whether there is a standard rate for all plans or rates by plan. If there is a standard rate for this billing code for all plans continue with step 8. If there are rates by plan, continue with step 15.
Click on the Standard Rates tab to make it active.

Complete the Standard Rates tab.
Click the Save button in the tool bar.
Click on the Standard Rules tab to make it active.
The Standard Rules tab is displayed. View field definitions.
Complete the Standard Rules tab.
Click the Save button in the tool bar.
Click on the By Insurer tab to make it active.
The By Insurer tab is displayed. View field definitions.
Complete the By Insurer tab.
Click the Save button on the tool bar.
If needed, click on the Authorization Questions tab to make it active. This tab is optional.
This tab is used to select a custom DFA form which is used to make a utilization management decision on an authorization for this billing code. The form is built each time an authorization is requested for this billing code.

Complete the Authorization Questions tab.
Click the Save button in the tool bar.
If needed click on the Billing Code Exchange tab to make it active. This tab is optional.
Use this tab to define a billing code that can be used to authorize claims for other billing code modifier combinations.

Complete the Billing Code Exchange tab.
Click the Save button in the tool bar.
Click the Exit item in the tool bar.
While the system will let you delete a billing code, take care about deleting a billing code that has been used to process claims and make payments. Deleting a billing code that has been used in processing can cause problems in the system. If a billing code has been used, but you are no longer using it, you can de-activate the code. Refer to De-activate a Billing Code.

Find the billing code that you want to delete.
Click on the hyperlinked number in the Code column.
The Billing Code Details page is displayed. View field definitions.
Click on the trash can item in the tool bar.
The Confirmation Message window is displayed.
Click the Yes button in the Confirmation Message window.
The billing code is deleted and the Billing Codes list page is displayed.
If the billing code has been used in the system, de-activate it from use rather than deleting it.

Click the Save button in the tool bar.
